Geographical position

The region of Lezha is situated in northwest of Albania at the latitude 41051’40’ north and 41o 35 south and at longitude 38o 08 west and 20 10’ 03’ east. The region of Lezha is bordered on the north by the region of Shkodra, on the northeast by the region of Kukes and on the east and south east by the region of Diber, on the south with the region of Durres and on the west with the Adriatic Sea.
The territory of the region of Lezha has a surface of approxomatly 1588.4 km2 and is composed of mountainous territory in the east and lowlands in the west. The territory is 65% mountainous and 37% field-like.

The Region of Lezha has a coastal surface of 11000 hectares along a coastline that is 38 km long and 3km wide stretching from Rana e Hedhun in the North to the Cape of Rodon in the South. Along the coastal line, there is an abundance of points that may be transformed into tourist villages and tourist ports.  This same geographical area is filled with natural beauty and a variety of flora and fauna.

   The geographical position of the region of Lezha is very favorable and is located in the center of several transportation arteries, serving as a linking poitnt for the noth-south and east-west movement. Thanks to its natural position, from the ancient times to the present-day, the region of Lezha stands among the regions in the country endowed with strategic and natural values. Located in the midst of the land and water resources, the region has riversand streams, water reserves, mountains and hills, which create high levels of biodiversity. The relief in this region presents an emphatic contrast alternating between the sea, fields and mountains, which are in close proximity.

In this region, the average height above the sea level is 413 and the highest point is 2121 m (the peak of Kunore, Mirdite) and the lowest elevation is 4m to 6m (Knalle, Torovice, Kakarriq, Tresh etc in Lezhe).
The continental climate dominates the mountain area and the Mediterranean climate dominates the field area. The average temperature is 150 and the average annual rainfall is 1500-1700 mm with irregular distribution. This territory also has numerous subterranean and water properties.
The diversity of the relief, climate, topography and geomorphology of the region

create favorable conditions for flora and fauna, wild and mild.
Geo-physical elements of the territory of the Region of Lezha, combined with flora and fauna create wonderful landscapes that are stimuli for agribusiness and tourism development; two important income sources that influence sustainable development.
